megan neary 2014Ms. Neary believes that embracing change is critical to improving the professionalism of educators.  “I believe in embracing change. Teaching isn’t about going through the motions each day. It isn’t about teaching the same lesson, the same way, year after year. It is about constantly altering our instruction to fit the changing needs of our students. It’s about researching new and better methods to put into practice and staying educated on the changes in our profession. We can all choose to see change as an enemy or an ally. I believe we should see change as an opportunity to improve the educational program we offer our students. As professionals we should strive to be open to change, especially if it is in the best interest of our students and if it enables us to prepare them to be successful citizens in a rapidly changing world. I believe incredible things happen when we are open to possibility! We should always be carefully and thoughtfully considering what is best for our students. We should recognize the value and expertise we all bring to the table and continue collaborating together to improve our instruction and practices. I am confident that in order to lead our students to becoming responsible, productive citizens, we must embrace change.”

An NWPE member, Ms. Neary appreciates having professional options.  “I joined NWPE over 5 years ago. I strongly believe teachers should have a choice in the professional organizations they belong to and I plan on continuing to be part of the NWPE for many years to come!

Congratulations again to Ms. Neary whose award is certainly well-deserved as she seeks ways to increase student achievement.  NWPE is proud to reward educators for their hard work and creativity in the classroom.

Applications for the Fall 2014 NWPE awards may be requested here.  Applications are due October 1.
