Genesee Teacher Wins NWPE Grant

Ms. Michelle Sperber, 7th-12th grade mathematics teacher at Genesee Jr/Sr High School in Genesee, ID, has been awarded a classroom grant for $200 by Northwest Professional Educators (NWPE).  The grant will fund purchase of architectural supplies for a Geometry project in which students are asked to design a state-of-the-art high school on a certain site.  The projects will be judged by a panel of architects, administrators, and school board members.  Genesee Jr./Sr. High School Principal Kelly Caldwell presented the award on behalf of Northwest Professional Educators at a school staff meeting in May.

Mt. Angel Teachers Win NWPE Grant

Mr. Jeff Crapper and Ms. Carlie Harris, science teachers at Kennedy High School, in Mt. Angel, OR, have been awarded a classroom grant for $500 from Northwest Professional Educators (NWPE), the state’s only non-union professional teacher association.  The grant will fund purchase of physical science laboratory materials to enhance student achievement.  Principal Troy Stoops presented the award on behalf of Northwest Professional Educators at a school staff meeting in May.

Pocatello Teacher Wins NWPE Grant

Ms. Kelsey Margulieux, a physical science and advanced placement physics teacher at Century High School in Pocatello, ID, has been awarded a classroom grant for $500 by Northwest Professional Educators (NWPE), the state’s only non-union professional teacher association.  The grant will fund purchase of a laptop computer and Dreamweaver software to enhance student achievement of the High School Robotics Teams.  Ms. Charlotte Shearer presented the award on behalf of Northwest Professional Educators at a school staff meeting in May.

Caldwell Freshman Academy Teacher Wins NWPE Grant

Ms. Betty Riley, a 9TH grade English teacher at Caldwell Freshman Academy, was awarded a classroom grant for $500 from Northwest Professional Educators (NWPE), the state’s only non-union professional teacher association, at a recent staff meeting.  The grant will fund a multimedia projector to enhance student achievement through incorporation of all three learning modalities.  The award was presented by Kim Hunter for NWPE.

Northwest Professional Educators is proud to award Mr. Jeff Seely, a math teacher at Lynden High School in Lynden, WA, with a classroom grant for $255 to purchase a classroom set of the novel The Housekeeper and the Professor, an engaging novel that contains a good deal of real mathematics.  Mr. Seely plans to use the books to capture the imaginations of his students, to broaden their perspectives, and to encourage rich conversations about mathematics.

 Ms. Daisey Horner, a 10th grade biology teacher at Mountain View High School in the Meridian School District and member of Northwest Professional Educators, has been awarded a classroom grant for $500.  The grant will fund the purchase of binoculars for use by biology students in the “Bird by Bird” program organized by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.  Partnered with the Idaho Children and Nature Network, the goal of the program is to improve student observation skills and attention spans as well as to promote a love of nature through outdoor activities.   Continue Reading...

Northwest Professional Educators, Association of American Educators' state partner for Washington, Oregon and Idaho, awarded a classroom mini-grant to Kathy Muscat, guidance counselor at Jerome High School in Jerome, Idaho.
