ID Governor Proclaims "Idaho School and Teacher Choice Week"

The Office of the Governor Proclamation

  • WHEREAS, every student in Idaho should have access to an effective education; and
  • WHEREAS, citizens across Idaho agree that improving the quality of education in Idaho and expanding access to great schools should be an issue of importance to our state's leaders; and
  • WHEREAS, Idaho recognizes the critical role that an effective and accountable system ofeducation plays in preparing all students in Idaho to be successful adults in a global economy; and
  • WHEREAS, Idaho has a multitude of high-quality public schools, magnet schools, public charter schools, virtual schools, independent, private and religious schools, home schools, intraschool and advanced educational opportunities; and
  • WHEREAS, educational variety not only helps to diversify our economy, but also enhances the vibrancy of our state; and
  • WHEREAS, Idaho has many high-quality teaching professionals in public, private and charter schools who are committed to educating children; and
  • WHEREAS, it is important for Idaho parents to explore and identify the best education options available to their children; and
  • WHEREAS, research in Idaho and across our nation demonstrates the importance of providing children with multiple educational options to help improve their academic achievement; and
  • WHEREAS, School Choice Week is a nationally celebrated event during which we join with millions of parents, educators, schools and organizations around the country to raise awareness of the need for effective educational options that challenge and motivate all our students to succeed;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH” OTTER, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim January 25-31, 2016 to be
