Northwest Professional Educators has a new board of directors. Get acquainted with these distinguished educators who have passion for teacher choice and student achievement!

Dr. Bill Proser, NWPE President, is a renowned literature, history, and economics teacher at the  Coeur d'Alene Charter School which he and his wife Dee founded in Coeur d'Alene, ID.  The Academy is consistently ranked one of the nation's highest performing high schools.  Dr. Proser is also one of America's elite Holocaust educators.

Kim Zeydel, NWPE Vice President and Idaho Teacher of the Year 2015, teaches math in West Ada School District's Meridian Academy in Meridian, ID.  She received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching in 2009.  Ms. Zeydel serves on the AAE Advisory Board which provides advice and perspective to the AAE staff, contributes ideas and recommendations on education policy, and which serves as representative to the broader teaching community.

Cherri Sabala, NWPE Secretary, is an Idaho Teacher Certification Specialist and State Director of Idaho's American Board for the Certification of Teacher Excellence (ABCTE).  She has been a business owner and taught in Nampa, ID, prior to her current position.

Tony Bonnuccelli, NWPE Treasurer, is administrator/principal of Moscow Charter School (MSC) in Moscow, ID.  MSC is a Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) based charter school.  Prior to his current position, Mr. Bonnuccelli was a K-12 band, choir, and general music teacher in Colton, WA.

Barb Amidon is a retired school counselor in Olympia, WA.  She co-founded NWPE in 2001 after a decade of sharing teachers' rights regarding compulsory union fees and efforts to hold the Washington Education Association accountable in its use of member dues.  Ms. Amidon organized a class action lawsuit against the WEA which resulted in the WEA suing her in an attempt to silence her voice and stop her teacher advocate activities.  WEA leaders were not successful.

Lori Porter is a teacher in Portland, OR.  She co-founded, and serves as the Executive Director of, Parents' Rights in Education, a nonprofit organized to protect and advocate for parents' rights to guide the education of their children.  She is also an advocate addressing needs of adults with disabilities and their caregivers.

Shawna Exline is language arts middle school teacher in West Ada School District's Idaho Fine Arts Academy, in Meridian, ID.  She was West Ada Teacher of the Year 2016 and is a proud advocate of the arts and student and teacher choice.

Colin Sharkey is the Executive Vice President of the Association of American Educators.
