Congratulations to Ashlee Burke, a 6th grade teacher of math, science and western civilization at Ammon Elementary School in the Bonneville Joint School District.  Ms. Burke has been awarded a $250 New Classroom Start-Up Grant from Northwest Professional Educators (NWPE).  Charlotte Shearer presented the award on behalf of NWPE at a staff meeting on February 29, 2012. Ms. Burke, a first year classroom teacher, said that this NWPE grant would be an amazing help with every penny to be used to enhance her students' education.  She'll use the funds to purchase lab equipment and supplies to increase student achievement in science.

Ms. Burke chose education as a profession in order to inspire future generations.  She believes that educators are the most privileged of individuals because they get to make a difference and inspire for the future.  She wants her students to want to learn and to love to learn, exploring the world around them, learning history, and creating a positive future.

Ms. Burke believes that having a choice of professional organizations benefits teachers tremendously as teachers can gain information and resources from multiple perspectives.  This diversity, she believes, improves collaboration focused on student success as the primary goal of educators.

Congratulations again to Ms. Burke!  NWPE is happy to help her provide the best education possible to her students.
