PD Mindset Book Study

TeachIdaho and NWPE are partnering to offer an eight-week book study on renowned Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck's book Mindset. Teachers will have the opportunity to read and discuss the book in which Dweck discusses how ability and talent are only one small piece of success.  It is our mindset that truly determines success, she believes. With the right mindset, teachers can motivate students to achieve greater success not only in school, but also in life.

Organizational meetings will be held in early March to sign up for College of Idaho credit ($55), get the syllabus and discussion schedule, and participation requirements.  You do not have to attend the organizational meeting in order to participate in the book study. There will be a $10 registration fee for each participant taking the book study for credit.

All teachers welcome to join.  The book will be divided into four sections, one every 2 weeks.  If working with a group, discussions should take place during the two weeks.  Discussion questions will be posted on Edmodo and participants will be expected to share individual thoughts and group discussion elements in online conversations.

Teachers interested in participating should send their name, school, district, and e-mail address to Kali Kurdy, Executive Director of TeachIdaho, at kkurdy@teachidaho.org.  Talk it up with your colleagues.  Perhaps a Mindset study group can get started in your school!
