Are you or your colleagues frustrated with your ability to teach grammar or use it effectively in your own communications?  Teachers in the Spokane, Washington, and North Idaho area are invited to attend Mary Ellan Moe's workshop, "Help with Common Core Through Grammar Workshop," on Saturday, January 24, from 8:30 to 3:30 at the North Spokane Public Library, 44 E. Hawthorne Road, Spokane.

Six clock hours from ESD101 are available.

In the workshop you will:

  • Learn to use the eight parts of speech correctly
  • Practice skills using a new handbook
  • Find out why grammar has been minimized for the last 40 years
  • Equip yourself with noun-verb agreement knowledge
  • Discover when to use apostrophes
  • Learn correct pronoun use: "he and I" or "him and me"

One participant stated that the workshop, "helped me to gain a better understanding of how to teach grammar to my children in a manner they can understand.  It also helped to clarify a lot of issues I have with grammar since it was not really a focus in my education."

For more information or to reserve a place, email Mary Ellen Moe at or call 509-443-5828.

The workshop costs $35 and includes a handbook that is useful for both teachers and students.
